China's MIIT to Establish IOT Industry Alliance; China's Wuxi to Build National IOT Quality Test Center

China's MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) recently revealed that the ministry will promote the establishment of an IOT (Internet of Things) industry alliance, with an aim to expedite the development of IOT nationwide, the Xinhua News reported on October 26. The IOT industry alliance initially will focus on environmental protection, transportation and medical areas. The MIIT stated that the Chinese ICT industry's share of the entire Chinese industries scored around 10%.

 

Meanwhile, with support the government, Wuxi - located in Jiangsu Province of eastern China - is poised to build a quality monitoring center for the IOT industry, the Sohu IT News reported on October 26. The Wuxi government is projected to in the city earmark a total of 200 million RMB (US$29.9 million; US$1 = 6.7 RMB) for the establishment of this new center, which will have eight state-of-art test laboratories to carry out different tests. Further details, however, were not yet disclosed. Since August 2009, the city has seen the establishment of various institutions and associations including Wuxi Research Institute of Internet of Things Industry, State Sensor Information Center, China Research and Development Center for Internet of Things, China Pilot Zone for Innovations and R&D in Sensor Network Industry, China R&D Center for Innovations in Sensor Network, and China Alliance of Internet of Things Technology and Industry.
